Mapiful - UX & Front-end Engineer
Role: UX & Front-end Engineer
Tech: Vue.js, WordPress, Figma
When: January 2021 β March 2022
Backgroundβ¨
Mapiful is a startup that allows users to design unique map prints for any place worldwide. The company experienced significant growth during COVID-19 as interest in home styling increased. With an international team representing over 10 countries, Mapiful focused mainly on markets in France and the US.
The problemβ¨
Rapid growth led to challenges in maintaining user experience and sales. There was a need to optimise the website, improve conversion rates, and enhance the overall customer journey.
My roleβ¨
I worked in an agile startup environment where I had a versatile role encompassing both UX design and front-end development.
My main responsibilities included:
π UX improvements based on user feedback and behavioral analysis from tools like Hotjar and Zendesk support tickets
π¬ Conducting and analyzing A/B tests to optimize conversion rates
π» Front-end development of new features and optimization of existing campaigns.
π SEO optimization to improve organic traffic
π¨ Sourcing new illustrations for map editors

The process and resultβ¨
My process at Mapiful was based on a user-centered, data-driven approach to enhance the overall user experience. I collaborated closely with a UI designer, iteratively developing and implementing visionary concepts.β¨β¨I analyzed user behavior using tools like Hotjar and Google Analytics, diving deep into heatmaps, user recordings, and funnel analyses to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement. I also regularly reviewed Zendesk support tickets to understand common user issues and frustrations.
A key project I led was the development of a Post-Purchase Order Modification System. Based on user research, we identified a need for customers to modify orders after purchase. I designed and implemented a solution allowing customers to change details such as delivery address or map design within 6 hours of ordering, reducing support tickets and improving customer satisfaction.
This role required a broad skill set across UX, UI, and front-end development, as well as the ability to quickly switch between different tasks in a dynamic startup environment.
